The coal-to-hydrogen ammonia synthesis unit of Guangxi Hengyi’s 1.2 million-ton coal chemical project was officially handed over! 2025-05-08 On May 7, 2025, the coal-to-hydrogen ammonia synthesis unit of Guangxi Hengyi New Materials Co., Ltd.’s project for integrated production of 1.2 million tons per year of caprolactam and polyamides, along with related facilities, was completed on schedule and to high standards, and a ceremony was held to mark this achievement; this marked the official transition of the project from the construction phase to the preparation stage for operation. Recently, new progress has been made in the cyclohexanone unit of Guangxi Hengyi New Materials’ 1.2 million tons per year caprolactam–polyamide integrated production project; the project has now entered the final stage of \"three inspections and four determinations\". As a key project in Guangxi aimed at developing the green chemical and new material industry, this project is of great significance for Qinzhou to extend its petrochemical industry chain and establish a new industrial framework based on \"one drop of oil and two types of fibers\". The ammonia synthesis plant began operations on March 26, 2023; the main structure of the gasification unit was completed on September 12, 2024, and the shift scrubber tower was successfully lifted for the first time on April 9, 2024. It took 2 months to complete all the tasks related to lifting large components at the site, while it took 4 months to weld a total of 47.8 million welds, with a welding qualification rate of 98.8%. These were all key milestones achieved throughout the project. The integrated hexamidine-caprolactam-polyamide production facility of Guangxi Hengyi New Materials Co., Ltd., with an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons, utilizes two SpaceMaiwei coal-based semi-waste boiler gasifiers for the production of hydrogen at a rate of 100,000 m3/h and ammonia at a rate of 200,000 tons per year. Project Overview: The Guangxi Hengyi New Materials project, which involves the integrated production of 1.2 million tons of caprolactam and polyamides per year, has a total investment of around 22 billion yuan. Once operational, it will be able to produce 1.2 million tons of polyamide chips annually, generating annual sales revenue of about 20 billion yuan and annual tax revenues of 1.8 billion yuan. One phase of this investment amounts to around 12 billion yuan, covering an area of 1,700 mu. The construction includes facilities for producing 600,000 tons per year of cyclohexanone, 1.2 million tons per year of hydrogen peroxide, 200,000 tons per year of synthetic ammonia, 600,000 tons per year of caprolactam, as well as 600,000 tons per year of polyamide. The second phase of the project will mainly involve the construction of 1 set of hydrogen peroxide production facility with an annual capacity of 400,000 tons (based on 35% concentration), 2 sets of cyclohexanone production facilities using the olefin process with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons each, 2 sets of caprolactam production facilities with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons each, and 5 sets of polyamide polymerization facilities with an annual capacity of 120,000 tons each. The construction period for Phase II is 24 months, with commissioning expected in 2025.
A 300,000-ton/year cyclohexanone plant produced by the olefin route, 2 sets of 300,000-ton/year caprolactam plants, and 5 sets of 120,000-ton/year polyamide polymerization plants. The construction period for Phase II is 24 months, with commissioning expected in 2025.
