Installation of Five Units in Hubei Sanning’s 600,000-Ton Ethylene Glycol Project / Author/Source: Meihua Ke / Date: 10-10-2019 / Views: 61. Recently, in the purification section of the ethylene glycol unit and the low-temperature methanol washing unit as part of Hubei Sanning’s project to adjust its ammonia synthesis raw material mix and produce 600,000 tons per year of ethanol, five units were installed after more than 20 days of preparatory work carried out by the Second Engineering Company of China National Chemical Engineering Corporation. The equipment to be lifted is the MN regeneration tower, weighing 278 tons; it was lifted using a 1300-ton crawler crane as the main lifting device and a 650-ton crawler crane as an auxiliary lifting device ; The 2 DMO reactors, weighing 247 tons each, were lifted using a 1,300-ton crawler crane for the main lifting and a 650-ton crawler crane for the auxiliary lifting ; The lean methanol cooler, weighing 126 tons, was lifted into place using a 450-ton crawler crane for the main lifting and a 260-ton truck crane for auxiliary lifting ; The heat regeneration tower, weighing 109 tons, was lifted using a 450-ton crawler crane for the main lifting and a 260-ton truck crane for assistance. The perfect lifting and installation of the five pieces of equipment have laid the foundation for the subsequent construction work. Project Progress: On February 9, 2018, the groundbreaking ceremony for Hubei Sanning Chemical Co., Ltd.’s project to adjust the raw material structure for ammonia synthesis and to produce 600,000 tons per year of ethylene glycol was held in the Yaojiagang Chemical Industrial Park in Zhijiang City. The total estimated investment for the project is 10 billion yuan, with a planned construction period of 24 months; completion and operation are expected by December 2019. The project utilizes Yankuang’s pressurized gasification of water-coal slurry, with the core process being the technology for producing ethylene glycol from high-purity chemical synthesis gas. Donghua Institute is responsible for the overall construction, and a contract for the air separation unit was also signed with Air Liquide. The project is constructed in two phases: Phase 1 will produce 520,000 tons per year of synthetic ammonia and 400,000 tons per year of ethylene glycol, while Phase 2 will produce 200,000 tons per year of ethylene glycol and 600,000 tons per year of slow-release urea. On July 4, 2019, a kick-off meeting for the ethylene glycol digital delivery project of Hubei Sanning Chemical Co., Ltd. was held in Shanghai, marking the official launch of Sanning’s digital factory. On July 14, 2019, the first 3,000-ton gasifier in Hubei Sanning Company’s ethylene glycol project was successfully lifted in one go, marking a milestone achievement in the project construction and the timely completion of an important phase of the work. On August 5, 2019, the exhaust gas scrubber tower in the low-temperature methanol washing section of the purification and synthesis area for the ethylene glycol project was successfully transported to site; it was installed in one lift on that same day, marking the beginning of equipment installation in that area. On August 19, 2019, the DMO reactors (a total of 6 units), which are key core equipment for Hubei Sanning Chemical’s 600,000 tons per year ethylene glycol production project and were manufactured by Taiyuan Heavy Industry Group, were successfully shipped from the group’s Tianjin Binhai Heavy Equipment Wharf. This marked the end of a gap in terms of the ability to manufacture such super-large pressure vessels within Taiyuan Heavy Industry Group and then ship them as complete units. On September 4, 2019, the equipment that had arrived earlier, such as the methanol-water separation tower and the feed heater for the thermal regeneration tower, were successfully lifted into place. On September 7-8, the instrument buffer tanks of the air separation unit and the urea CO2 exhaust stacks were hoisted into place.
I mainly look at the descriptions in the article regarding the lifting of large-scale equipment and the transportation of extra-large equipment, such as the tonnage of the lifting equipment, the installation location, height, and the space occupied by the cranes. It’s also good to have the owner provide an overview of the project progress
