The φ3800 coil-type water heat transfer single-stage converter supplied by Hangzhou LinDa Chemical Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. was officially put into use in the conversion unit of Junhua Co., Ltd.’s 300,000 tons per year synthetic ammonia production facility in Zhumadian, Henan Province. This reactor features a fully radial tube-coiling water cooling structure, and its gas head utilizes space-based pressurized coal gasification technology; the coal gas contains a high level of CO, and the shift reaction is characterized by a fast reaction rate and large heat release. The newly commissioned converter replaces the original #1 converter R-2001, primarily to address the insufficient heat transfer capacity of the old equipment as well as the issues of internal and external leakage. Heating of the electric furnace for vulcanization began at 15:30 on May 31; the total vulcanization time was 64 hours, with the final temperature maintained above 370°C ; After sulfidation, cooling was carried out using N2, after which boiler water was introduced to raise the temperature of the catalyst layer to 220°C. Gas flow was initiated at 5:50 on June 6, with production continuing using just one gasification furnace; on June 12, both gasification furnaces were in operation at full capacity. The volume of gas fed to the shift reactor was 200,000 Nm3/h, with a CO content of 58.29% on a dry basis and a water-to-gas ratio of 0.78. The inlet and outlet temperatures of the first shift reactor were 230.7°C and 291.9°C respectively, while the CO content at the outlet was 3.08% on a dry basis. The pressure in the steam drum was controlled at 2.59 MPa, and the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the shift reactor was 23 kPa. The operation was smooth throughout the driving process, the temperature distribution in the catalyst layer was reasonable, and the production data exceeded the design expectations. Linda’s first φ3600 coil-type water heat transfer converter was put into operation in December 2015 on a 300,000-ton synthetic ammonia plant using pressurized gasification of water-coal slurry, and it has been operating stably ever since. The successful commissioning of this reactor indicates that this type of reactor is capable of meeting the requirements of various large-scale gasification technologies in China.
