On July 4, the financing agreement signing ceremony for the olefins, aromatics, and deep processing project of Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical’s 15 million tons per year demonstration project for clean and efficient conversion of coal into various products (hereinafter referred to as the Yulin Chemical Phase II project) was held at the group’s headquarters. Responsible officials from 11 financial institutions signed agreements with Yulin Chemical of Shaanxi Coal Group, to provide financial support and guarantees for the investment in and development of Yulin Chemical’s projects, as well as for the transformation and upgrading of its industry. Shaanxi Coal Group bears the responsibility of ensuring stable economic growth in Shaanxi; by 2025, it plans to undertake 99 key projects with a total investment of over 400 billion yuan. As the world’s largest coal chemical project under construction, Yulin Chemical’s second phase has received financing of over 100 billion yuan with the support of financial institutions; the maximum amount approved for any single entity was 240 billion yuan, setting a record for financing of projects of this kind and enabling secured credit financing. Shaanxi Coal Group hopes to use this signing to deepen industry-financial cooperation and support the development of Shaanxi. At the signing ceremony, 11 financial institutions stated that they would work together to facilitate the commissioning of the second phase of the Yulin Chemical project, thereby contributing to the upgrading of Shaanxi’s energy industry. The person in charge of Yulin Chemical introduced the project planning and operation status. More than 100 people attended the meeting, including senior executives from Shaanxi Coal Group and representatives from financial institutions. The 15 million tons per year demonstration project for the clean and efficient conversion of coal into various products by Yulin Chemical Company is located in the Qingshui Industrial Park of the Yushen Industrial Zone. It is capable of processing over 24 million tons of coal each year. The project is constructed in two phases and four stages, comprising 27 process units along with associated utility systems. These include low- and medium-temperature pyrolysis of 15 million tons of coal, production of 5.6 million tons of methanol, 1.8 million tons of ethylene glycol, 2 million tons of MTO, as well as downstream products derived from these intermediates. The pyrolysis startup project mainly includes a 1.2 million tons per year pulverized coal pyrolysis unit and a 500,000 tons per year coal tar hydrogenation complex. It is constructed simultaneously with Yulin Chemical’s first-phase 1.8 million tons per year ethylene glycol plant, utilizing Shengbang Technology’s own pyrolysis technology ； In the second phase, the scale of pyrolysis will be increased to 15 million tons, and the coal tar industry chain will be expanded to produce aromatic hydrocarbons as well as downstream products derived from arylenes. The Yulin Chemical 15 million tons/year demonstration project for clean and efficient conversion of coal based on different quality levels is implemented in two phases; the first phase involves the construction of an ethylene glycol production facility with a capacity of 1.8 million tons per year, as well as a pyrolysis pilot plant. The total investment for the two-phase project is approximately 201.4 billion yuan; it is a super-large-scale modern coal chemical industry project. Building on the infrastructure developed in the first phase, this project will involve the construction of facilities for producing olefins, aromatics, and other products through efficient sorting and grading of coal. These basic products will then be further processed to yield four categories of end products with high added value: high-value materials, battery electrolyte solvents, biodegradable materials, and special oils. This approach aims to achieve coordinated development between the coal chemical industry and the petroleum chemical industry.
