Bi Yajun and Lu Xuehua, deputy directors of the preparatory office for the chemical project of the group company, representatives from China Chengda Engineering Co., Ltd. and Ningbo Zhongke Yuandong Catalytic Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., invited experts, as well as relevant technical staff from the chemical materials company, attended the meeting. After listening to Ningbo Zhongke Yuandong’s presentation on the design concepts, basis for preparation, content and depth of the ethylene glycol process package documents, as well as the main process steps, technological characteristics, and safety and environmental protection aspects, the attendees reviewed and discussed the ethylene glycol process package. They had in-depth exchanges regarding potential safety issues associated with the project and clarified the key milestones for progress. The process package review is one of the key milestones in project construction, playing a decisive role in the quality of the entire project. The successful completion of this review of the ethylene glycol process package marks the transition of the company’s ethylene glycol plant from the technical design phase to the engineering design phase, laying a solid foundation for accelerating the further development of the project to high standards. Yuneng Group’s project for producing 400,000 tons of coal-based ethylene glycol per year is located in the Qingshui Industrial Park of the Yushen Industrial Zone. It covers an area of approximately 1,711 mu, with a total investment estimated at 5.8 billion yuan; completion and operation are scheduled for 2021. Coal-based syngas is used; carbon monoxide and hydrogen are separated through gas purification, and ethylene glycol is synthesized indirectly via carbonylation, coupling, and hydrogenation. Industrial products such as dimethyl carbonate, crude ethanol, mixed alcohols, sulfur, liquid oxygen, and liquid nitrogen are produced as by-products. The main process units include the coal-based syngas production unit, purification and separation unit, ethylene glycol production unit, boiler and power generation unit, air separation unit, along with various supporting utility systems.
