The 60% design review meeting for the 3D model of the Shanghai Ruican FTO pilot plant project carried out by Donghua Technology was successfully completed. From November 19 to 20, the 60% design review meeting for the 3D model of the Shanghai Ruican direct synthesis of olefins from syngas (FTO) pilot plant project, which is under the general contracting of Donghua Technology, was successfully held, marking the completion of the most important milestone in the project’s engineering design phase. Tang Zhiyong, General Manager of the owner party Shanghai Rui Carbon Energy Technology Co., Ltd., along with experts in technical and management fields, attended this review meeting. The participants conducted a detailed review and in-depth discussion of the 3D models of the main process unit and 60% of the compression section, and put forward numerous optimization suggestions from important aspects such as the advancement of the process flow, the rationality of the equipment and pipeline layout, the safety of the engineering design, the feasibility of on-site construction, the operability of pilot tests, and the convenience of inspection and maintenance. The Donghua Technology project team will further refine the detailed engineering design based on the suggestions of the experts present, to ensure that the best possible design results are delivered on time and to the required quality. During the meeting, project manager Zhang Shuming gave a special report to the client on the progress of the FTO project construction. Tang Zhiyong highly praised the rapid advancement in design, procurement, and construction activities by the Donghua Technology project team since the signing of the general contract, and expressed his gratitude on behalf of the client for the careful organization by the project team. The FTO pilot plant is a research and development project based on indigenous Chinese technology. The construction of this pilot plant is aimed at verifying the technology for direct synthesis of olefins from syngas, as well as the results of catalyst research and development; it also serves to prepare the necessary technologies and accumulate data for industrial application. FTO technology differs from traditional preparation methods; apart from ethylene and propylene, the olefins obtained are almost entirely high-carbon linear α-olefins with higher added value, contain very low levels of isomeric olefins, and are free of impurities such as aromatics, sulfur, and nitrogen. Since high-carbon linear α-olefins have a wider range of applications and higher added value, the ability to produce olefins directly from syngas in a highly selective and cost-effective manner will drive the development of many related industries. The FTO project is of great significance to both Shanghai Ruican and Donghua Technology; it represents an important achievement in terms of technological innovation for Donghua Technology. The project team will work closely with the client to ensure that the construction and operation of the project are completed to high standards in accordance with the planned schedule.
