On July 3, Bayannur City in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Shanxi Meijin Energy Co., Ltd. signed a framework agreement for the 5 million tons per year coking-related chemical recycling industry base project in the Wulat Qianqi Industrial Park. Chang Zhigang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Bayannur City, Zhang Xiaobing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Mayor of the city, and Yao Jinlong, Chairman of Shanxi Meijin Energy Co., Ltd., attended the signing ceremony. Zhang Xiaobing said that Shanxi Meijin Energy Co., Ltd. is one of the large-scale coal coking enterprises in China, boasting a complete industrial chain that integrates coal, coking, gas, and chemical production, and it possesses strong capabilities in the coal and coking industries. The joint effort by both parties to develop a chemical recycling industry base supporting coking operations will surely lead to complementary strengths and mutual benefit through cooperation. Bayannur City will provide full support, offering comprehensive high-quality services and guarantees to assist enterprises in carrying out all the preliminary work for their projects, thereby creating a favorable environment for enterprise development and project progress. It is hoped that Meijin Energy will seize the golden period for project construction, initiate the project development as soon as possible, and drive substantive progress in the cooperation. Yao Jinlong said that he would accelerate the preparation and construction work for the project, striving to get it implemented as soon as possible. The 5 million tons per year coking-related chemical recycling industry base project of Shanxi Meijin Energy Co., Ltd. in the Wulat Qianqi Industrial Park is planned to require a total investment of 10 billion yuan. It will be implemented in two phases: the first phase is scheduled to involve an investment of 2.87 billion yuan. The project covers an area of about 900 mu, consumes 2.7 million tons of raw coal per year, and uses around 3.5 million tons of water per year. It mainly involves the construction of facilities for producing 2 million tons of compacted coke per year, along with facilities for producing 200,000 tons of methanol per year. The second phase will focus on building facilities for producing 3 million tons of compacted coke per year, along with facilities for comprehensive utilization and further processing. Phase 1 of the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021, while Phase 2 will be advanced gradually depending on the progress of capacity development. The project is undergoing registration and approval procedures.
