Haichen Chemical’s 500,000-ton acetic acid production plant commissioning: Gasification using aerospace furnaces: May 20, 2024. On May 13-14, 2024, the commissioning ceremony for Fujian Haichen Chemical Co., Ltd.’s (referred to as “Haichen Chemical”) 500,000-ton/year acetic acid production project was held in Shanghai； Relevant personnel from Haichen Chemical, China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as “China Tianchen”), and Shanghai Pujing Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as “Pujing Chemical”) attended the meeting, where they had in-depth exchanges and discussions on project progress, design milestones, and personnel arrangements. The project uses a space furnace for gasification, and produces 500,000 tons per year of acetic acid via a methanol intermediate and CO as raw materials. Acetic acid is mainly supplied to meet the needs of the PTA plants of its parent company, Fuhua Group. Haichen Chemical’s 500,000 tons per year acetic acid production facility utilizes Pu Jing Chemical’s third-generation rhodium-catalyzed process technology. It mainly consists of synthesis, distillation, absorption, product iodine removal, propionic acid recovery, catalyst preparation, and intermediate tank area process units. Haichen Chemical’s 500,000 tons per year acetic acid plant is a supporting project for 400,000 tons per year adiponitrile and its raw materials. The raw material support projects produce liquid ammonia/hydrogen/methanol/acetic acid, etc. Hai Chen Chemical was established in 2023 and is jointly owned by Fujian Fuhua Gulei Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and China Tianchen. The company is located in the Gulei Petrochemical Base of the Gulei Economic Development Zone in Zhangzhou, Fujian, where a project with an annual production capacity of 400,000 tons of adiponitrile and related raw materials is planned. The raw material is purchased coal; using space furnace gasification technology, 500,000 tons per year of acetic acid is produced via a methanol intermediate and CO as raw materials. In the future, the products of this acetic acid plant will mainly be supplied to meet the needs of the PTA plant operated by its parent company, Fuhua Group. Fujian Haichen Chemical Co., Ltd. was jointly established by China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sinochem Engineering Corporation, and Fujian Fuhua Gulei Petrochemical Co., Ltd. China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd. won the bid for the preliminary design of Fujian Haichen Chemical Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 400,000 tons per year of adiponitrile and related raw materials, with a contract value of 22,750,000 yuan. Tianchen Company is responsible for the overall integration, coordination, and management of various design units during the detailed design phase.
