At 12:30 on November 15, the pressure testing of the high-pressure process pipelines for Ningxia Baoli’s new energy project, which involves an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons of raw material preprocessing equipment and 600,000 tons of coal tar deep processing equipment, was successfully completed by Sinochem’s Sixth Branch. The high-pressure pipeline that was tested this time is approximately 2,500 meters in length, with a total welding length of 25,000 inches. There were 5 testing cycles, and the maximum testing pressure reached 28.028 megapascals; this constitutes a high-risk testing operation. With only 3 days available for preparation of the pressure testing, in order to carry out this task safely and efficiently, the pressure testing team from Baoli’s project department worked around the clock for 72 hours, overcoming difficulties such as a harsh working environment and frequent design changes, to ensure that the high-pressure coal tar pipelines passed the acceptance test on the first attempt. The project is located in the Chemical New Materials Park of the Ningdong area in Ningxia, and construction began on September 10, 2018. Upon completion of the project, coal tar, a by-product of coal chemical production, will be processed into naphtha and wax oil, thereby increasing the added value of coal chemical products. Once the project is put into operation, it will play a positive role in promoting the economic development of the Ningxia Autonomous Region as well as its long-term social stability. The Sixth Branch Company was responsible for the civil engineering and installation work of the entire coal tar deep processing plant for this project. Thanks to its outstanding performance during the project construction process, the Sixth Branch has been awarded by the client the titles of “Annual Enterprise Meeting Safety and Civilized Construction Standards” and “Advanced Unit in Work Safety Management”. In accordance with the principle of planning once and constructing in phases, this project will initially build production and auxiliary facilities such as a 1.2 million-ton raw material pretreatment unit, a 600,000-ton coal tar deep processing unit, a product refining unit, a 100,000-ton propylene unit, a 30,000-ton MTBE (methyl tert-butyl ether) unit, a 400,000-ton light hydrocarbon isomerization unit, a 0.3-million-ton sulfur recovery complex, a 2,000 Nm3/h methanol-to-hydrogen unit, as well as storage facilities, flare systems, control rooms, fire stations, substation stations, air separation and air compression stations, and sewage treatment facilities. Subsequently, some of the facilities were expanded, resulting in a raw material preprocessing capacity of 2 million tons, a gas fractionation facility with a capacity of 300,000 tons, a propylene facility with a capacity of 400,000 tons, an MTBE facility with a capacity of 60,000 tons, a coal tar deep processing facility with a capacity of 140 tons, a lubricant facility with a capacity of 100,000 tons, and a reforming facility with a capacity of 1.6 million tons.
