From December 17 to 20, the three reciprocating compressors in the hydrogen production unit of Xinjiang Tianyu Coal Chemical’s project for the clean and efficient utilization of 5 million tons of coal per year were successfully tested all at once, marking an important stage in the trial operation of the key equipment for this project. At 2 p.m. on December 17th, the first compressor was officially powered on. After 4 hours, at 18:16 in the afternoon, the first reciprocating compressor in the compressor building of the hydrogen production facility was successfully tested. Tan Cheng, the specialist in equipment groups, explained that the reciprocating compressors were designed and manufactured using technology entirely imported from Kobe Steel Corporation in Japan; they feature a symmetric (opposite) balanced reciprocating design, are double-acting, and have an oil-free lubrication system. This compressor will pressurize the gas flowing out of the primary adsorption tower in the hydrogen production unit area of the Tianyu Coal Chemical Project, allowing it to flow into the secondary adsorption tower for the next processing step. Scale of the Tianyu Coal Chemical Industry Project and main construction contents: Phase 1 involves an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons of semi-coke, 300,000 tons of coal tar hydrogenation products, as well as related supporting facilities ； Phase II will have an annual production capacity of 1.5 million tons of semi-coke, along with related supporting facilities, thereby creating a circular economy industry that integrates the processes of raw coal – upgraded coal – coal tar – coke oven gas – hydrogen production – and coal tar hydrogenation. The 5 million tons per year clean and efficient comprehensive utilization project for coal sorting at Tianyu Coal Chemical was launched in April 2013; however, the project had to be halted in February 2015 due to banks stopping loans and resulting financial difficulties. Through the efforts of the people of Tuoxun County and through the joint efforts of various parties, on January 24, 2017, Zhongtai Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tianyu Coal Chemical. The scope of this cooperation included Tianyu Coal Chemical, Yutian Coal Industry Co., Ltd. in Tuoxun County, and Panji Coal Industry Co., Ltd. in Tuoxun County.
