On March 5, Sinochem Second Construction Group Co., Ltd. and Inner Mongolia Huiteng Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. signed in Beijing the contract for installation and construction of Phase 1 of the 600,000 tons/year ethylene glycol project, as well as a framework agreement for the PC general contracting work of Phase 2. The annual production capacity of 600,000 tons of coal-based ethylene glycol at Inner Mongolia Huiteng Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. requires an investment of over 10 billion yuan. The facility is located in the Shangejia Chemical Industrial Park within the New Industrial Park in Tuyou Banner, Baotou City, covering an area of more than 1,000 mu. Complementary projects include Huiteng Energy’s 600,000-ton coal-to-ethylene glycol project, Lianhe Energy’s 720,000-ton annual liquefied natural gas production project, a modern coal chemical equipment manufacturing base operated by Lianhe Equipment, a 50,000-ton polyglycolic acid resin project, as well as a coal-to-gas project under development. Zhang Xiaoliang, deputy general manager of Sinochem Second Construction Company, presided over the ceremony; Guo Tai, general manager of the Infrastructure Business Unit, and Liu Peizhi, deputy manager of the Jindongnan Branch, attended the ceremony. It is reported that this project was initiated through close cooperation between China National Chemical Investment Corporation and Sinochem Second Construction Company, with financing leasing being used to facilitate its advancement. It is also reported that in January 2020, MCC Traffic Construction Group Co., Ltd. signed a construction contract for a project to produce 600,000 tons of coal-based ethylene glycol with Inner Mongolia Huiteng Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd., with a contract value of 610 million yuan. Zhongkong provides the DCS (ECS-700), GDS, and SIS (TCS-900) for the basic automation system of the first phase of Inner Mongolia Huiteng Energy Chemical Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 600,000 tons of coal-based ethylene glycol per year, as well as safety barriers (HD series) and pressure transmitters (CXT series). These products are used in projects that involve the production of SNG (coal-to-natural gas) using the air-flow bed dry powder gasification furnace known as the “Guojin Furnace”, which is currently the largest of its kind in China. The Beijing Aerospace Power Research Institute (No. 11 Institute) mainly supplies the Huiteng project with a variety of complex devices such as special valves, pumps, and energy-saving and environmental protection systems ； The 711th Research Institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (SMDERI) supplies equipment such as gasifier burners and core heat exchangers for the Huaiteng project ； Inner Mongolia Energy Construction Investment (Group) Co., Ltd. is responsible for most of the civil engineering work at the Huiteng site ； Dalian Jinzhou Heavy Machinery Group Co., Ltd. supplies core gasification equipment for the Huaiteng project ； Gansu Lanke Petrochemical High-Tech Equipment Co., Ltd. supplies complete sets of equipment such as methanol scrubbers and heat exchangers for the Huiteng project ； Shenmu Group supplies equipment such as core compression units for the Huiting project ； Shaanxi Blower (Group) Co., Ltd. supplies equipment such as air coolers and compressors to the Huiteng project ； Huisheng Engineering (China) Co., Ltd. is responsible for the overall design of the gasification island for the Huiting project.
