There are currently over 10 MTO units in use in China; the overall operation of these units is stable, but there are still many problems, such as high pressure differences in the quench water towers and severely elevated COD levels in the gas wastewater! Please feel free to share your thoughts – the problems that arise and the solutions proposed can serve as a guide for achieving clean and efficient production in MTO!
The quench water has a high solid content, the purified water has a high oil content, the pressure difference in the wash tower is high, the temperature at the outlet of the reaction gas in the wash tower is high, and there is severe catalyst loss
Quench water has a high solid content, and air-cooled systems require continuous cleaning throughout the year, which is costly! Heat exchangers that use quench water as a heat source for olefin separation also need to be cleaned regularly!
Problems often arise with the analysis tables for the gas produced at the top of the water wash tower and after the third selection step in the reaction process, which makes it difficult to control the carbon content in the reaction product. What is the reason for the high acetylene content in the reaction? The differential pressure across the two spool valves is high; I’m not sure what’s causing it. The pH of the quench water fluctuates greatly and is difficult to control.
What is the full name of MTO, and what is its process?
Methanol to olefins! In simple terms, it involves using methanol to produce ethylene and propylene, with some carbon tetra- and carbon pentane compounds being produced as by-products!
I still lack experience; I can’t answer these questions, haha
It is said that almost no adjustment to the carbon setting is needed when the operating conditions are stable. Offline analysis is also available 24 hours per time. As long as the carbon content is fine, if there are issues with the product, it’s due to problems in other aspects. Is it necessary to frequently adjust the carbon setting based on the analysis table?
