The extrusion granulator in Yan’an Nenghua’s polypropylene plant successfully started up for the first time using polypropylene powder with a high melt index; author/source: YahuacCoalChemical, date: 2020-05-21, views: 13. At 11:40 a.m. on May 17, the extrusion granulator in Yan’an Nenghua Company’s polypropylene plant was successfully started up for the first time by using polypropylene powder with a high melt index as raw material, and the entire process took only 15 hours. This achievement overcame the technical challenges associated with using such materials in the extrusion granulation process. It is reported that high-melting-index powders have strong fluidity in their molten state, which can easily lead to problems such as the extruder’s blades getting stuck or damaged during operation; in severe cases, it may even result in the blades breaking. To ensure the successful and timely completion of this startup process, the Olefin Polymerization Center established a technical task force to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the entire startup procedure and develop detailed plans for it. In particular, technical personnel kept close track of important parameters such as the temperature of the granulator’s cylinder, the opening degree of the throttle valve, the temperature of the die plates, and the rotation speed of the cutting knives, making precise adjustments throughout the process, which ultimately enabled the successful completion of the startup task. The successful commissioning of this extrusion granulator has significantly enhanced the technical expertise related to the operation of extrusion granulators in the polypropylene plant, laying a solid foundation for the plant’s future production of products with high melt index values.
