The system is currently operating stably. The A series of the Yili Xintian coal-to-natural gas project began trial operations of the gasifier on March 6, 2017, and produced finished natural gas on March 20 ； Series B began trial operation with material feeding on June 4. Since the trial operation with feedstock injection, the total natural gas production from both series has reached 310 million cubic meters. The produced natural gas is transported via CNPC pipelines in Yining City to the West-East Gas Transmission pipeline network, thereby helping to alleviate the gas shortage in the eastern region. Winter is the peak period for natural gas consumption. Due to the implementation of coal-to-natural gas conversion projects in various parts of the country, many areas have faced shortages of natural gas, resulting in severe supply constraints and even interruptions in gas supply. Xintian Coal Chemical Company attaches great importance to gas production during winter; all related tasks are planned in an integrated manner, under unified command, through scientific planning and reasonable arrangement, to ensure the safe and stable operation of each production unit and maintain consistent gas output. It is reported that the Yili Xintian coal-to-gas project produces 2 billion cubic meters of pure natural gas per year, with by-products including 31,000 tons of light hydrocarbons, 100,000 tons of heavy aromatics, 84,000 tons of polyhydrocarbons, 25,000 tons of polyphenols, and 116,000 tons of thiamine. The project can convert 6.77 million tons of coal into 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, which is sent to Zhejiang and accounts for about one-third of Zhejiang’s current natural gas consumption. The Yili Xintian Coal-to-Gas Project is located in the Yili Xintian Coal Chemical Industry Park in Yining City, Yili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Utilizing local coal resources, it employs technologies such as pressurized gasification of coal, synthesis gas purification, and methanation to produce 2 billion cubic meters of synthetic natural gas per year; it is currently the largest coal-to-gas project of its kind in the world. The project was overall contracted by China National Chemical Engineering Corporation, and construction began in April 2011. The Yili Xintian coal-to-gas project has a total investment of 16.09 billion yuan. It is jointly funded and constructed by Zhejiang Energy Group Co., Ltd. and Shandong Energy Xinwen Mining Group Co., Ltd., leveraging the strengths of these two groups in areas such as coal, coal chemical industry, natural gas markets, and power generation. On March 15, 2013, it was designated as a **demonstration project for the deep processing of coal under the 12th Five-Year Plan**; its main tasks include the efficient treatment of wastewater generated in fixed-bed coal gasification, the industrialization of proprietary methanization technologies, and the demonstration of self-developed major equipment. Key technologies and demonstrations for wastewater treatment and utilization in fixed-bed gasification have been listed as an **863 research project.
