As of July 17, 2020, the main facilities of Inner Mongolia Jiu Tai’s plant for producing 1 million tons of coal-based ethylene glycol per year, along with the production control center, large-scale maintenance workshops, auxiliary buildings, and research center, were nearly complete; the plant was scheduled to be fully built and put into operational testing by the end of that year. This project is a key industrial construction project in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Hohhot City. The total investment in the project is 11.7 billion yuan, with a total land area of 2,565 mu; it is currently the largest ethylene glycol production facility of its kind in China. The project was launched on September 29, 2017, with a construction period of 3 years. It is planned to complete the trial operation by the end of 2020 and go into full production in 2021. At present, 90% of the main construction work for the facility has been completed. The production control center and auxiliary buildings are about to be put into use, the research center is nearing completion, the large-scale machinery repair workshop has had its roof installed, the concrete foundation for the coal storage bins has been poured, and the coal retaining walls are currently being constructed. Equipment installation has begun, the associated syngas island has started operations, and the boiler island is now in the phase of structural installation. At the end of July, equipment debugging will begin, laying the foundation for the complete completion and testing by the end of the year.
