Processing technology for long-lasting polyolefins: Evaluation of the author/source: Sinochem New Network; Date: July 24, 2020; Clicks: 227. Recently, the project \"Development of low-cost processing technology for high-volume production of long-lasting polyolefins\", led by the Shanghai Research Institute of Petrochemical Technology, passed the evaluation process. The overall technical level of this technology is internationally advanced, which laid the foundation for the project to meet the requirements of comprehensive performance assessment. This project is a sub-project of the **key research and development program “Development and Industrialization Demonstration of Agricultural Film Materials with Controllable Properties Driven by Chemistry and Structure”**. The expert group inspected the 10,000-ton capacity, 5-layer co-extruded greenhouse film production line on site and conducted on-site sampling tests; the average haze level of the greenhouse film was 8%, which is at the international leading level. The experts present at the meeting concluded that the project had completed all the research tasks specified in the project assignment document and met the technical requirements. The commissioning of this 10,000-ton capacity high-end greenhouse film production line has changed the situation in China, where low-end greenhouse films dominate and corporate profits remain low. To date, it has been used in demonstration projects covering 5,000 hectares, generating an additional annual sales revenue of 196 million yuan and profits of 37 million yuan for the enterprises involved. The long-lasting, high-performance, multi-functional composite greenhouse film developed by the Shanghai Research Institute in collaboration with partner companies addresses industry challenges such as insufficient duration of anti-fogging and dust-proofing effects, as well as low light intensity ratios inside and outside the greenhouse and reduced photosynthetic efficiency. It enables farmers to achieve a doubled usage period with a single investment, saving time and labor costs associated with replacing the film over time, thereby helping them cut expenses while improving crop yield and quality. Currently, this technology has increased the yield of string beans for local farmers by 20%, and the yield of strawberries by 8%, allowing them to be marketed on average 5 days earlier, thereby increasing farmers’ incomes.
