At the end of July, Huawei and Hikvision, the two largest video surveillance suppliers in China, were invited to bring their first-generation 5G cameras to the company’s ethylene glycol production site for testing; these latest 5G cameras have now been installed on the 40-meter-high platform of Unit 1’s air separation cryogenic tank. It is understood that this is the first time a 5G camera has been used in Hubei Province. The camera is equipped with a 5G communication module and a 5G network card; installation requires only a power supply. Video footage is transmitted to the servers in the central data center via 5G signals, eliminating the need for fiber optic connections and network interaction devices. As early as the end of 2019, the company began work on the 5G infrastructure for the ethylene glycol project; to date, 8 outdoor base stations have been installed. Once the network setup and indoor signal distribution are completed, 5G coverage will be available throughout the project site and all explosion-proof cabinets. As can be seen from the live footage of the project site captured by the camera in the image above, both at close range and from a distance, a wide-angle lens is capable of covering nearly a quarter of the 2,000-mu area of the construction site. It can also focus on vehicles and pedestrians on National Highway 318, which is 2,000 meters away, delivering clear images with every detail in sharp focus.
