On August 8, 2020, Wuzhong Tongda Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. carried out a ceremony to light and heat up Furnace No. 1. The leaders who presided over the ignition ceremony were Han Baokui, head of the Political Consultative Conference of Wu’an City in Hebei Province; Wang Juhai, director of the Selection and Appointment Committee of Wu’an City’s People’s Congress; Zi Jianzhong, deputy director of Wu’an City’s Construction Bureau. Other attendees included Wang Yongtian, vice chairman of Hebei Yuhua Steel Group; Lian Bang, chairman of Tongda Coal Chemical; Zhang Zhiheng, general manager of Tongda Coal Chemical; Guo Aizeng, deputy general manager of Yida Natural Gas Company; as well as representatives of some employees from Tongda Coal Chemical. At the meeting, Zhang Zhiheng, the company’s general manager, gave an introduction to the progress of the Tongda Coal Chemicals project. Zhang Zhiheng, the company’s general manager, carried the torch to the coke oven platform. At the meeting, Chairman Mr. Lian Bang emphasized that the successful ignition of Furnace No. 1 is the result of the hard work of all employees and staff at Tongda Coal Chemical. It also signifies that we have taken a new step toward achieving full operational capacity by October, marking yet another achievement in the development of Tongda Coal Chemical. The successful ignition of Furnace No. 1 is also the result of the joint efforts of all the parties involved in the construction of Tongda Coal Chemical. More than 10 construction companies, including Hubei Huaxing Company, Shandong Xingrun Company, and Hebei Linzhang Company, have been working on this project since last September. Overcoming various challenges such as complex engineering requirements, tight deadlines, and the impact of the pandemic, they have achieved remarkable results. Hubei Huaxing Company demonstrates the professional expertise of furnace construction companies in areas such as coke oven construction and metal fitting, representing the excellent qualities of the heroic people of Hubei. Since entering the site in June of this year, Sinochem Second Construction Company has, within less than two months, mobilized over 440 construction workers and more than 10 work teams to get the work underway, demonstrating the strength and commitment of its team. Construction units such as Ningxia Dechang, Shandong Yilu, Jiangsu Tonghuan, Jiangsu Xinseng, Dalian Heavy Industry, Hongxing Yuantong, Wigeris, Handan Yutao, Zhongzhengda, and Ruidiyuan have shown selfless dedication, a willingness to contribute, and outstanding achievements. On behalf of the board of directors of Tongda Coal Chemical, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the hard work of all these construction units. This ignition and furnace heating mark the entry of Tongda Coal Chemicals into the final stage of preparation for full operation by October. It is hoped that all employees and workers of Tongda, along with the many builders, will continue to show concern for and support the construction of Tongda Coal Chemical’s projects. By upholding the spirit of hard work and dedication, as well as the craftsmanship of striving for excellence, we can turn this project into a model for the entire region and a benchmark for circular economy parks. In June 2019, Wuzhong City brought in Yuhua Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. from Wu’an City, Hebei Province, and Tongda Coal Chemical Co., Ltd., to establish a shareholding partnership; 1.946 billion yuan was invested in the development of the Tongda Coal Chemical Industry Park in Wuzhong City. Of this amount, 1.32 billion yuan is allocated to carry out technical upgrades to the existing 200,000 t/a stable light hydrocarbons production facility, with accompanying infrastructure such as dry quenching systems, surface dust removal stations, desulfurization and denitrification units, and an 110 KV substation being built simultaneously. The first phase of the Tongda Coal Chemical Project is a key construction project in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The total investment in the project is 1.6 billion yuan. It mainly involves the construction of 2×55-chamber 5.5 m ramming coke ovens, as well as supporting coal preparation, coke screening and transportation, cold blowing, desulfurization, ammonium sulfate production, crude benzene treatment and other gas purification systems. There are also 110 KV substations, facilities for fresh water and circulating water, a central control room, various substations, oil storage areas and other utility systems, as well as environmental protection measures such as dust removal on the surface, sewage treatment, desulfurization and denitrification, covered coal yards, and dry quenching of coke. Once the first phase of the project is completed and put into operation, it will be capable of producing 1.1 million tons of coke per year, 35,000 tons of coal tar, 12,000 tons of crude benzene, and 8,000 tons of ammonium sulfate. It will also supply 250 million cubic meters of gas externally. The annual output value will be 2 billion yuan, with tax revenues exceeding 100 million yuan, while it will create more than 800 job opportunities.
