In recent years, with the operation of various compensation systems, the amount of water used in production at Yuenenghua has increased, resulting in greater pressure on the supply of fresh water for the company. To effectively reduce fresh water consumption, the Utility Center optimized production operations and strictly controlled process parameters at various stages, thereby successfully reusing the wastewater produced by Plant No. 2 in the water treatment plant. It is understood that the 2# wastewater reuse project is a key technological initiative of this center. Since its initiation, the person in charge of the center has led the project team in overcoming various challenges such as high temperatures of the incoming water, poor water quality, and difficulties in sludge acclimatization. As a result, it was possible to reduce the COD level in the wastewater produced by Plant 2# to below 45 mg/L and the ammonia nitrogen level to below 5 mg/L; all these parameters meet the requirements for reusing the water in water treatment plants. Since February 13, 2022, the recycled water volume from Plant No. 2 has been around 80 m3/h, with a total of 30,530 m3 recycled to date. Once this project is put into operation, it will not only help to reduce fresh water consumption effectively, but also lessen the processing load on the brine treatment units downstream, thereby reducing the cost of chemicals used in those units. This in turn **decreases the amount of mixed salt generated. According to estimates, based on a current reuse rate of 80 m3/h, millions of yuan in costs can be saved each year. The head of the center stated that the Public Utilities Center will continue to explore its potential, optimize the operation of the zero-waste-discharge system, reduce operating costs, and ensure the effective reuse of high-quality wastewater, thereby providing a solid foundation for the company’s goal of achieving stable growth in the first quarter.
