Progress of the Yulin Petrochemical Project Author/Source: Yulin Petrochemical Date: 11-17-2020 Clicks: 4 01 Successful commissioning of the pressure increase system and the compressor in the LDPE/EVA plant On November 14, the pressure increase system and the compressor in the LDPE/EVA plant were successfully commissioned in a single operation; this not only verified the various operational performance parameters of the compressor when operating in nitrogen mode, but also ensured greater airtightness in the high-pressure circulation system through the use of the compressor. It is understood that once the compressor of this unit met the startup conditions, it was started for the first time on October 5 to perform sequential purging of the six stages of the compressor; after each stage was successfully purged, nitrogen commissioning of the compressor was carried out. To ensure the smooth progress of nitrogen transfer, on-site personnel carried out leak detection and sealing work on the compressors and process pipelines, and put various heat exchangers and thermocouples into operation. After completing a series of preparatory tasks as well as providing technical and safety instructions, the compressor was started at 15:37 in the afternoon. It operated continuously for 2 hours and 8 minutes before being stopped manually; all parameters remained normal during operation. To date, the pressurization/primary unit of the LDPE/EVA plant has been started a total of 43 times, with a total operating time of 17.9 hours. Compared to similar devices, it has a shorter startup time, and less vibration and noise after startup. The person in charge of the unit stated that this nitrogen-based operation of the compressor represents the longest operating period since the unit’s commissioning; it has improved the operators’ skills in handling the compressor, provided valuable experience for the unit’s future operations, and laid a solid foundation for the unit to operate in the pressure-increasing/primary machine ethylene mode, as well as for the replacement of the secondary machine and its subsequent testing. (Polyolefins Center/Ding Yansue) The fuel gas distribution station at Unit 261 is now ready for operation. On November 14, the fuel gas distribution station at Unit 261 completed its natural gas supply test and is now ready for formal operation, thereby ensuring a supply of gas for the timely startup of various units. It is reported that the 261 plant-wide gas distribution station is responsible for supplying gas to the seven units in the four operational centers: the methanol center, the olefin center, the storage and transportation center, and the polyolefin center. Thanks to the relentless efforts of the plant commissioning team, all tasks related to sealing leaks, instrument calibration, pressure regulation system setup, and internal gas replacement in the station have been completed; the plant is now ready to supply gas to all its users at any time. As of the time of writing, the conversion unit is carrying out operations to put Station 261 into operation, as well as providing enhanced training on safety precautions, in order to continuously improve the operational skills of the staff and lay a solid foundation for the smooth commissioning of all the main units involved in the remediation project.
