On December 4, the synthesis gas/cycle gas compression units for the methanol plant in Jiutai New Materials Co., Ltd.’s 1 million-ton annual ethylene glycol production project were successfully installed. The compression unit is the most crucial equipment in a methanol plant; it is regarded as the heart of the entire plant. Its role is to pressurize the syngas from the upstream stage and send it to the methanol synthesis unit, where methanol is produced. The compressor was manufactured by Finmeccanica’s New Bilong company (formerly part of GE in the United States), with a total weight of 136.38 tons. It was lifted using a 400-ton crawler crane through a lift-by-block method. The successful lifting of this compressor unit further creates favorable conditions for advancing pipeline installation, and also lays a solid foundation for the steady progress of the entire project.
