The construction of the low-temperature methanol washing purification unit for coke oven gas in the 3 million tons per year coal coking upgrading and comprehensive utilization renovation project of Shanxi Juyuan Coal Chemical Co., Ltd., which is under EPCM general contracting by Saiding Company, commenced on the morning of December 23 at the project site in Nanguan Town, Lingshi, Shanxi. Source: Coal Chemical Industry 114 Forum; Date: 2020-12-24; Clicks: 7 For the first time, this project employs the low-temperature methanol washing process to remove sulfur from coke oven gas, replacing the traditional desulfurization methods used in coke plants. The scope of the contract includes the design of gas tanks, primary compression of coke oven gas, power distribution stations, as well as the overall management of the low-temperature methanol washing process, compression and refrigeration systems, and coke oven gas turbines. The project duration was 376 days, ranging from the project’s initiation on August 31, 2020, to the completion of the facility handover on September 11, 2021. The project is located in Nanyu Industrial Park, Nanguan Town, Lingshi County, Shanxi Province, with a total investment of 120 million yuan. Once the project is put into operation, the total sulfur content in coke oven gas will drop from 270 mg/Nm3 under traditional desulfurization processes to less than 30 mg/Nm3. This will significantly alleviate the environmental pressure issues that have plagued the coking industry for years due to incomplete sulfur removal. It will also greatly reduce the investment required for the entire process of purifying coke oven gas, offering promising prospects for market development.
