Successful Installation of Large Equipment for PP3 Unit at Yueneng Chemical Plant – Author/Source: Beijing Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd. Date: 10-31-2019 Clicks: 35 On October 22, one of the key pieces of equipment for the multi-zone polymerization framework of the 400,000-ton/year polypropylene plant (referred to as PP3 unit) in Yueneng Chemical Plant’s first-phase expansion project, which was EPC-completed by Beijing Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd., was successfully installed after being lifted into place. This marked a successful completion of the installation of large-scale equipment for this unit, and it also set the stage for the smooth installation of the subsequent multi-zone polymerization reactors. The total height of the multi-zone aggregation framework is 71.8 meters. The main structure consists of 18 box-shaped columns, and the total weight of the steel structure of the framework is approximately 1,790 tons. There are 54 pieces of equipment inside the framework, including 5 large lifting devices. The cooler is located 33.7 meters within the multi-zone polymerization framework; it weighs approximately 110 tons. A 400-ton crawler crane is used as the main lifting equipment, and this device is primarily used to exchange heat with the reaction gases. The completion and improvement project for the first phase of Shaanxi Yanchang China Coal Yulin Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. (Yanchang Jingbian Phase II project) involves an investment of 14.413 billion yuan. Using coal and natural gas as raw materials, this project aims to build an integrated facility capable of producing 1.8 million tons per year of methanol, 600,000 tons per year of methanol-to-olefins products, 400,000 tons per year of polypropylene, and 300,000 tons per year of low-density polyethylene/ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (LDPE/EVA). The project is scheduled to be put into operation in the second half of 2020. Once operational, Yueneng Chemical’s polyolefin production capacity will reach 1.9 million tons per year, making it the largest polyolefin production project in Shaanxi Province at present. As of October 24, the projects launched in Phase 1 had produced a total of 1.000164 million tons of polyolefin products on an annual basis, successfully exceeding the 1-million-ton mark. This is also why Yulin Petrochemical’s polyolefin production has exceeded 1 million tons for four consecutive years.
