A few days ago, Pengfei Group’s 2.56 million tons per year coking project, including the dry quenching unit for which a total investment of 600 million yuan was made, successfully passed the environmental protection inspection. It became the first coking enterprise in the city to complete the construction of such a dry quenching unit, to put it into operation, and to have all relevant inspections passed. Following the acceptance, all environmental protection requirements for Pengfei Group’s coking project were met, enabling the project to enter a path of healthy development and laying a solid foundation for the sound growth of the chemical industry in the future. In accordance with relevant industry regulations, the environmental protection department was invited to attend the inspection site. The expert team conducted on-site inspections and presented reports, checking in detail every aspect related to the project’s design, construction, and supervision, as well as all stages and processes involved in the operation of the coking plant, including the technological methods used. The acceptance team believes that during the construction of this project, the environmental impact assessment and the \"three simultaneities\" principle were properly implemented; the monitoring results for various pollutants met the specified standards, and all pollution treatment facilities were operating properly. The project fulfilled the objectives set out in the environmental impact report as well as those approved by the environmental protection authorities, meeting the requirements for environmental protection acceptance upon completion of the construction project. Therefore, it passed the acceptance process. Pengfei Group’s 2.56 million tons per year coking project began construction in December 2012 and was largely completed in August 2017; during that same year, the treatment system for flue gases from the coke ovens was upgraded. For the treatment of these flue gases, a method combining \"dry desulfurization + high-efficiency low-temperature denitrification + waste heat recovery\" was employed. The coke ovens used were 4X52-chamber, 6.25-meter-long, three-stage heating type rammed coke ovens. Supporting facilities included systems for coal preparation, cooling, electrostatic precipitation, ammonium sulfate production, benzene extraction, desulfurization and denitrification of flue gases from the coke ovens, dry quenching (with wet quenching as a backup), a wastewater treatment plant, as well as various utility and auxiliary systems. In addition to being used partially for internal needs, the coke oven gas from this project also meets the requirements for methanol production in the enterprise as well as urban gas supply. The associated dry quenching project was fully completed this year, with Phase 2 set to come online on January 1, 2021.
