Shaanxi Chemical’s BDO acetylation load reaches another record high Author/Source: Shaanxi Chemical Date: 2022-05-06 Clicks: 13 As the May 4th Youth Day approached, the acetylation production capacity of Shaanxi Chemical’s BDO plant reached a new historical high. The catalyst was operated at 110% of its capacity for 65 days, resulting in the production of 20,250 tons of BDO – the longest period of operation at such high capacity since the plant began production. As the company’s fine chemical production facility, BDO covers the entire process chain from raw materials to finished products; strict management is essential in order to maintain the minimum standards for safety and environmental protection, as well as to ensure precise control over various process parameters. Based on strict enforcement of behavioral standards among employees, the branch plant continuously improves various management systems, taking action at all levels to ensure that everything is under supervision and that everyone has responsibilities. This helps to enhance employees’ awareness of rules and regulations, thereby laying a solid foundation for the high-volume operation of the production system. Foster a mindset in the upper production units to serve those in lower units, control material quality at the source, benchmark against industry leaders, compare with material balance sheets, and refine the control of key process parameters related to acetylation, such as PH, BYD concentration, and formaldehyde concentration. Carefully analyze the changes in DCS data to improve the operational efficiency of the plant. Regular sample analysis is conducted on the wastewater from various acetylene treatment towers; the wastewater generated during acetylene purification is treated separately to improve the efficiency of impurity removal and maintain the purity of acetylene gas. Greater emphasis is placed on monitoring water usage and discharge, and by separating the wastewater, production can operate in a sustainable cycle. BDO is on a fast track to improving productivity and efficiency; there is still much room for improvement in areas such as enhancing the efficiency of the acetylation process in phase two, upgrading the underground rainwater and sewage networks, and implementing energy-saving upgrades.
