On January 26, Tongliao Jinmei Chemical Co., Ltd. announced the public consultation prior to the approval process for its 100,000-ton/year dimethyl carbonate (DMC) production project. Tongliao Jinmei Chemical Co., Ltd. currently has an annual production capacity of 140,000 tons of ethylene glycol and 180,000 tons of oxalic acid. As the oxalic acid products manufactured by this company have gained recognition in the market, it has decided to expand its oxalic acid production capacity while reducing the output of ethylene glycol. The company plans to invest 100 million yuan to build a new facility within its existing plant site, with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of dimethyl carbonate; 2,000 tons of dimethyl oxalate will be produced as a by-product. This project uses methanol and CO produced on-site as raw materials to add an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of DMC. Once completed, the overall production capacity of the plant will be adjusted based on actual market demand, while keeping the coal consumption constant; the additional production volume for DMC will be 100,000 tons per year, with the production volumes of other products remaining unchanged at 14 tons per year for ethylene glycol, 80,000 tons per year for oxalic acid, and the same level for glycolic acid.
