Recent Progress on the Key Technology Development and Pilot Project for Producing α-Olefins from FTO Oil Author/Source: Coal Tar Deep Processing and Hydrogenation Technology Collaboration Group Date: 2022-01-22 Clicks: 41 On January 18, the key technology development and pilot project for producing α-olefins from FTO oil, undertaken by the Ningxia Coal-to-Oil Chemical Engineering Construction Command, successfully passed the fire safety inspection for special construction projects, thanks to the joint efforts and coordination of the project owner, construction contractor, design institute, supervision agency, and production unit. For this inspection, the Ningdong Management Committee’s Construction and Transportation Bureau entrusted a third-party technical service agency to carry out on-site evaluations for the fire safety inspection of this special construction project. Checks and functional tests were conducted on the fire water system, fire protection facilities, fire alarm system, and public address system. The successful completion of the fire safety inspection for this special construction project has laid a solid foundation for the subsequent development of key technologies for the production of α-olefins from Fischer-Tropsch oil products, as well as for the safety inspection of pilot-scale demonstration projects and the evaluation of the effectiveness of controls against occupational health hazards. The project on the development of key technologies for producing α-olefins from Fischer-Tropsch oil and its pilot-scale demonstration is a pilot project under the **Energy Group’s ‘2030 Major Projects’ initiative. Building on the jointly developed laboratory techniques for the separation of Fischer-Tropsch oil as well as for acid and oxygen removal, a pilot plant will be constructed in the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base. Through these pilot tests, a comprehensive set of technical solutions and design specifications will be developed, providing technical support for the expansion of the fine chemical industry chain. The construction site for this project is located within the oil product synthesis plant area of the coal-to-oil branch, covering an area of approximately 1,200 square meters, with a construction period of 3 months. The project uses oil-washed naphtha from coal-to-oil projects as raw material, with a feed rate of 1 t/h. Through acid and oxygen removal as well as distillation separation, C6 and C8 alkenes are obtained as the final products.
