Progress on the “Zero Waste Discharge” Project at Huayu Company Author/Source: Huayu Company Date: 2021-06-04 Clicks: 17 The “Zero Waste Discharge” project is one of the key projects for Jincheng City, JinNeng Holding Equipment Manufacturing Group Company, and Huayu Company in 2021. The zero-waste discharge project deals with the concentrated brine from the two existing discharge outlets in the north and south plant areas; its designed treatment capacity is 120 m3/h. Once implemented, this project will produce qualified desalinated water to be used as makeup water for the gasification units, while also generating sodium sulfate and sodium chloride as by-products. This approach achieves \"zero waste discharge,\" meeting environmental requirements while significantly reducing water consumption. It contributes to the sustainable development of the enterprise and helps in building a \"community where humans and nature coexist.\" Under the scientific planning and coordination by the Party and administrative authorities of Huayu Company, with the Technical Center taking the lead and the relevant departments and workshops providing active support, as well as through close communication and coordination with the coal chemical division of the group company, the project successfully passed the expert review, and in May 2020 it received approval for implementation from Jinneng Holding Equipment Manufacturing Group. Subsequently, a BOT tender for the project was launched, and more than ten technical exchanges were held with the manufacturers to continuously optimize and refine the design scheme, ensuring that it was advanced and suitable, safe and reliable, as well as economically optimal. The technical agreement and contract were finalized in October 2020, laying a solid foundation for accelerating the project construction. On January 29, 2021, this project passed the preliminary design review; construction began on April 1, with completion of the civil work expected by the end of June. The site is overall in the civil construction phase. The main civil structures such as the membrane concentration workshop, evaporation and crystallization workshop, chemical dosing room, high-density tanks, regulation tank, salt storage area, and sludge dewatering room were completed in June; the steel structure was installed in July, and equipment installation began in June with the main equipment arriving gradually throughout that month. At present, all work on site is progressing in an orderly manner, with operation scheduled to begin in October 2021. Huayu Company actively implements the ecological and environmental protection concepts of \"reaching carbon peak and carbon neutrality\" as well as establishing a \"community of humanity and nature\" as proposed by ****. As a result, it has managed to ensure that emissions of water, air pollutants, slag, and noise all meet regulatory standards. Additionally, it explores ways to utilize boiler sludge and waste methanol in its operations, thereby making full use of waste materials. This approach has yielded significant economic benefits as well as notable environmental advantages.
