2 Jinhua units have been ordered! The technical upgrade project for syngas production at Qilu No.1 Chemical Plant is advancing rapidly. Author/Source: Gasification World. Date: 2021-07-13. Clicks: 180. Previously, Qilu No.1 Chemical Plant used refinery off-gases as raw material to produce 80,000 tons of ammonia and 130,000 tons of urea. In 2004, gas-to-coal conversion was carried out using a fixed-bed gas generator. In 2007, a holding subsidiary, Shandong Jianlan Chemical Co., Ltd., was established to produce butyl octanol, isobutyraldehyde, and other products. In 2017, the fertilizer plant was shut down. Currently, Qilu Yihua produces 210,000–240,000 tons of octanol and 30,000 tons of isobutyraldehyde annually. It also has the capability to produce n-butanol and isobutanol. The main raw materials produced are anthracite lumps and propylene. Gas production still relies on fixed-bed gas generation. Qilu Yihua has taken measures to address the prominent environmental issues that are restricting production. Carry out renovations to gradually implement “ash removal without shutting down the furnace” for each of the existing fixed-bed gas generators with relatively outdated processes. As of April 15, 2021, the retrofitting for \"ash removal without shutting down the furnace\" was completed for all 14 furnaces, and all of them are now operating within specified standards. A new gas-making wastewater treatment unit has been put into service, making wastewater treatment more effective. The blowing air for the gas generator is sourced from the combustion in the waste treatment furnace, effectively improving the unpleasant odors at the site and reducing dust generated during production. Measures such as dust prevention improvements at the coal yard, recovery of tail gases from butanol and octanol production, repair and marking of roads within the plant area, and the purchase of a new large-scale water-spraying and atomizing vehicle have also been carried out. In addition, Qilu Yihua is carrying out technical upgrades to its syngas production facilities. The technological upgrades for syngas production involve replacing the existing fixed-bed gas generation units with Jinhua reactors, substituting the current wet desulfurization process and PSA carbon removal methods with low-temperature methanol washing, and replacing the existing batch sulfur melting recovery process with a wet acid production method. Technical upgrades have begun the construction of some projects. The first phase is expected to be completed in March 2022, and the second phase in March 2023. The technical renovation project for the 45,000 Nm3/h syngas plant of Yangquan Coal Industry Group Zibo Qilu No.1 Chemical Fertilizer Co., Ltd. is located within the Qilu No.1 Chemical Industrial Park in Linzi District. The proposed project will use coal as raw material, replacing the existing fixed-bed batch gas production process with pressurized gasification of coal slurry, and substituting the current wet desulfurization and PSA carbon removal processes with low-temperature methanol washing for purification. For the recovery of acidic gases, the existing batch sulfur melting process will be replaced by a wet acid production method. Additionally, two 85t/h boilers that burn mixed waste materials will be modified to become circulating fluidized bed coal boilers, along with corresponding modifications to the dust removal, desulfurization, and denitrification equipment; one 6MW steam turbine generator set will remain in use. The total investment for the project is 904.75 million yuan. The new production facilities include air separation, water-coal slurry gasification, CO shift, low-temperature methanol washing, PSA hydrogen production, and sulfur recovery units. The original ammonia synthesis, urea production, and Waste Heat Boilers No. 1 and No. 2 were removed, while the existing systems for coal storage and transportation, Waste Heat Boilers No. 3 and No. 4, circulating water, chemical water treatment, sewage treatment, power transformation, and other utility systems were upgraded and put to use, ultimately resulting in a synthetic gas production capacity of 45,000 m3/h. Two units of Jinhua have been contracted for the gasification furnace. The gasification process package construction commenced in September 2019.
