The renovation project of the quench water system at Zhongan United’s MTO plant is progressing rapidly. Author/Source: Gasification World. Date: 2021-07-15. Clicks: 33. At 2 p.m. on July 5, at the construction site of the quench water system renovation project at Zhongan United’s MTO plant, upon the order of the management team, the workers entered the slurry tank to begin work on making holes in it. The retrofit project for the quench water system in the MTO unit consists mainly of 6 boiling bed filters connected in parallel. This system is capable of effectively removing fine catalyst particles from the quench water, reducing the amount of high-concentration wastewater generated as well as the suspended solids content in that wastewater, thereby minimizing the impact on the aquatic environment ; At the same time, it can also reduce the likelihood of blockages and the frequency of cleaning in quench towers, heat exchangers, and air coolers, thereby significantly improving the stability of the plant’s operation and addressing the bottlenecks that hinder long-term stable and economical operation of the plant. This has laid a solid foundation for the timely commissioning of the renovation project of the quench water system in the MTO unit. Regarding the Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Integration Project, the methanol production facility with an annual capacity of 1.7 million tons, as well as the facilities for producing linear low-density polyethylene and polypropylene in amounts of 350,000 tons each, are part of this project. Zhong’an United Coal Chemical Co., Ltd., which was established jointly by Sinopec Corporation and Anhui Wanbei Coal and Electricity Group Co., Ltd., is the entity responsible for investing in the construction of this project. The total investment for the first phase of the project amounts to 26.7 billion yuan; it includes the construction of the aforementioned facilities, as well as coal resources amounting to 856 million tons. A coal mine with an annual production capacity of 4 million tons will also be built. Once the first phase of the project is operational, it is expected to generate annual sales revenues of around 9 billion yuan and annual tax revenues of around 800 million yuan. The core process of the project utilizes the S-MTO patented technology owned by Sinopec, while the gasification unit employs the SE-Oriental furnace technology also owned by Sinopec. Using coal from the Zhujixi mine as raw material, products such as methanol and converted olefins (LDPE/PP) are produced. Zhongan United Coal & Chemical Co., Ltd. was established on December 18, 2010, with a registered capital of 4 billion yuan. It is funded equally at 50% each by Sinopec Corporation and Anhui Wanbei Coal and Electricity Group Co., Ltd.
