Recently, a review meeting for the foundation design of the industrial upgrading and on-site renovation project carried out by Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Xinghua Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd. was held in Xingping City, Shaanxi Province. The meeting conducted a detailed and thorough examination of the foundation design documents prepared by Beijing Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd. During the review process, the project leader provided a detailed and comprehensive report on the preliminary design work, and engaged in thorough discussions with the expert team. Drawing on the actual operation experience and subsequent renovation insights of the original 100,000 t/a ethanol plant, the company applied the optimal technical solutions to this project, providing a comprehensive set of practical engineering solutions that won unanimous recognition from the expert panel and the project owner. Ultimately, the expert panel unanimously agreed that the basic design documents met the requirements of the “Regulations on the Contents of Basic Engineering Design for Petrochemical Plants”, and put forward valuable suggestions. The approval of the project’s basic design documents marks an important milestone in the project’s progress. Xinghua Company’s industrial upgrading and on-site transformation project aims to optimize the existing product structure by taking into account the current raw material availability; it involves the construction of a facility capable of producing 100,000 tons per year of ethanol, thereby enabling the company to achieve an overall production capacity of 200,000 tons per year of coal-based ethanol. Xinghua Company’s decision to build a new ethanol plant is based on the world’s first 100,000 t/a coal-based ethanol project resulting from the commercialization of DMTE technology achievements. Since its commissioning in January 2017, the plant has operated stably and achieved good economic returns. This project is another demonstration project for the company to further enhance the economic benefits resulting from the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. At the same time, process design is refined based on the operational optimization experience of Xinghua Company, further driving the improvement and upgrading of DMTE technology. On January 4, 2021, Xinghua Company signed a patent technology licensing agreement for a 100,000 t/a ethanol project with Yanchang Zhongke. On February 2, the two parties held a kick-off meeting for the process package in Xingping. Currently, the PFD for the process package phase and the list of long-cycle equipment have been prepared.
