Design kickoff meeting for Air Products’ Jutai liquid hydrogen project / Source: Sinochem New Network Date: November 10, 2021 Clicks: 15 Recently, Air Chemicals (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Donghua Technology held a design kickoff meeting for the Jutai Hohhot 30-ton/day liquid hydrogen project. This project utilizes world-leading technology; it is the largest liquid hydrogen project both domestically and internationally at present, and it is also Air Products’ second liquid hydrogen project invested in China. 　　Leveraging Air Products’ advanced technologies for hydrogen purification, liquefaction, storage, and transportation, this project will enable the purification, liquefaction, compression, storage of liquid hydrogen, and its loading onto transport vehicles, thereby creating a complete supply chain for liquid hydrogen. Twenty liquid hydrogen refueling stations will be built in the main urban area of Hohhot and in Tuoketuo County, providing additional impetus for advancing China’s hydrogen industry from a gaseous to a liquid-based format. 　　Previously, the People’s Government of Hohhot, Jutai Group, and Air Products signed a strategic cooperation agreement on establishing a hydrogen energy demonstration city on November 6, 2020. Jiutai and Air Products will jointly establish a joint venture to develop efficient projects for the comprehensive utilization of hydrogen energy. The venture will invest in, build, and operate pressure swing adsorption units capable of producing 15,000 Nm3/h of high-purity hydrogen, as well as liquid hydrogen production facilities with a capacity of 30 tons per day. By utilizing the coal-based syngas produced by Jiutai’s existing chemical industry, high-purity hydrogen and liquid hydrogen will be manufactured, with an emphasis on applications such as hydrogen-powered heavy truck transportation and urban public transportation.
