On November 24th, good news came from the ceremony for announcing and presenting awards at Jining City’s second selection of the “Top 10” industrial projects – Guohong Company’s technical upgrade project for its coal-to-methanol production system was named one of Jining City’s “Top 10” industrial technical improvement projects for the year 2020. The technical renovation project for Guohong Company’s coal-based methanol production system is an energy-saving and quality-improving initiative. It marked the first time that a large-scale methanol plant was upgraded with a \"five-tower, three-effect\" energy utilization system. Through efficient heat coupling between the various towers, the steam consumption in the methanol distillation process was reduced. High-efficiency trays were also used to optimize the flow pattern within the towers, thereby reducing liquid phase mixing and improving mass transfer efficiency. This enhanced the operational flexibility of the distillation towers and improved product quality; as a result, the methanol products were awarded the title of National Quality and Reputation Guaranteed Products. The pulp preparation system is used to treat high-COD wastewater; it employs wet overflow rod mills, optimizes the particle size distribution, reduces power consumption, ensures that the coal slurry has an optimal particle size distribution, enables the recycling of wastewater, and improves the quality of the coal slurry. After the implementation of this project, it generated an annual economic benefit of 30 million yuan, serving as a model for the upgrading and renovation of methanol plants in China and holding significant potential for wider adoption.
