Puyang Yongjin: Significant energy savings and cost reductions achieved through technical upgrades to shut down P108. Author/Source: Zhongyuan Dahuahua. Date: February 21, 2022. Clicks: 12. Recently, the technical upgrade project aimed at shutting down P108 has been in operation smoothly for one month now. The implementation of this upgrade has resulted in reduced electricity consumption by the P108 pump, as well as lower costs associated with the maintenance of mechanical equipment. Based on 300 days of normal operation of the facility, it is possible to save a total of 172,000 yuan in electricity costs and maintenance expenses. The P108 pump is one of the key pieces of equipment in the nitric acid reduction tower. Before the renovation, two P108 pumps were required to be operated in order to transfer the liquid from the bottom of the tower; regular pump swapping was necessary for maintenance of these pumps on a monthly basis, which resulted in wasted electricity costs and maintenance resources. In response to this situation, Puyang Yongjin, through on-site process inspections by its factory technicians and theoretical calculations, added a bypass line to the liquid-phase pipeline of the nitric acid reduction tower, which enabled the goal of shutting down the two P108 pumps to be achieved. During the winter overhaul in 2021, the installation, commissioning, and acceptance work for the technical renovation project to shut down P108 were completed, and the unit was put into official operation after resuming production on January 8, 2022. Next, Puyang Yongjin will advance, implement, and put into operation other energy-saving and consumption-reduction technical improvement projects, thereby making greater contributions to the company’s efforts to save energy, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
