On March 1, Yan’an Energy Chemical Company succeeded in producing K4940, adding another element to the company’s efforts to develop higher-quality, more differentiated, and diversified products. Following several preliminary technical exchanges and discussions, the company developed a detailed plan for the production shift. At 9 a.m. on March 1, once all preparatory work had been confirmed to be in order, the transition to the new K4940 grade officially began. The operators watched closely the changes in various parameters, making meticulous adjustments to ensure that all technical specifications remained under control. During the process of switching to new production, the technical team was eager to receive the property analysis reports for each stage of the product. By overcoming production challenges such as insufficient heat removal in the counterflow exchanger and the difficulties associated with extruding high melt index random copolymers, and after more than 7 hours of precise adjustments, qualified products were successfully produced. It is reported that K4940 belongs to a random copolymer material specifically designed for transparency; it features good transparency, high gloss, and low shrinkage rate in injection-molded products. Compared with conventional materials, it offers better processability, requires lower processing temperatures, results in shorter molding cycles, and has no unpleasant odor. It is mainly used to produce highly transparent plastic containers for various food products, as well as household items made of transparent plastic, such as large storage boxes. There is currently a high demand for these products in the market, and they offer high added value.
