Rongxin Chemical’s 400,000-ton ethylene glycol production project has entered the commissioning phase as its production process flow has been fully established. On June 30, the synthesis and distillation unit as well as the ethylene glycol production unit under construction at Rongxin Chemical completed successful water-based trial operations. This successful completion of the process flows at the end of the system marked the entry of the entire second-phase construction project into the commissioning stage, thus fulfilling the goal set by the group company to establish these process flows by the end of June. The second phase of Rongxin Chemical’s project, with an annual production capacity of 400,000 tons of ethylene glycol and 300,000 tons of polydimethyl ether, began construction in August 2017. The total investment required was 7.68 billion yuan, and the project covers an area of approximately 1,268 mu. Using coal as the raw material, and taking advantage of the resources and capacity available from the first phase’s coal-to-methanol production facility, this project utilizes processes such as gasification, conversion, purification, synthesis, and distillation to produce chemical products like ethylene glycol and polydimethyl ether. It helps to extend the industrial chain and increase the added value of these products. It represents an important step in advancing the integration of the coal chemical industry, as well as a necessary factor for the development of regional industrial clusters. Rongxin Chemical is located in the northern border region of Inner Mongolia, in a cold climate zone where winter temperatures can drop to minus 30 degrees.
