Southwest Research Institute wins bid for PSA hydrogen production in Shanghai Huayi syngas project Author/Source: Gasification World Date: 2023-11-28 Clicks: 13 It was recently reported that Sinochem Southwest Research Institute outshone domestic and international competitors in the bidding process for two PSA hydrogen production units as part of Shanghai Huayi Industrial Gas Co., Ltd.’s syngas supply and related projects, and secured the contract. As the EPC contractor for this project, Southwest Institute provides proprietary technologies, engineering design, as well as a complete set of equipment and materials, along with valve rack skids. The project includes a high-pressure pressure swing adsorption hydrogen production unit and a low-pressure pressure swing adsorption hydrogen production unit. In this system, the feed gas for the high-pressure pressure swing adsorption hydrogen production unit comes from the flash gas and hydrogen-rich gas obtained through deep cryogenic separation; the produced hydrogen is sent to ammonia synthesis, while the desorbed gas is compressed before being sent back to deep cryogenic separation. The operating pressure is 3.08 MPa, and the processing capacity is 84,422.2 m3/h. The feed gas for the low-pressure pressure swing adsorption hydrogen production unit comes from the permeate gas of the membrane separation unit; part of the produced hydrogen is pressurized and used in ammonia synthesis, while another part is sold externally. The desorbed gas is compressed before being sent for deep cryogenic separation. The operating pressure is 2.13 MPa, with a processing capacity of 94,388 m3/h. The Shanghai Huayi Syngas Supply and Supporting Projects will build a new acetic acid plant with an annual capacity of 800,000 tons, as well as a synthetic ammonia plant with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons; it will also supply 80,000 m3/h of CO+H2 along with related supporting facilities to the chemical industrial zone. The project construction includes air separation, POX units, MDEA purification, membrane separation and PSA, CO cryogenic tanks, ammonia synthesis, acetic acid plants, etc.
