Recently, the new coal gangue building materials processing project located in Mishan Town, Gaoping City, began operations, with the capacity to produce 1,000 tons per day of raw materials for new building materials as well as industrial materials. What was once a \"black burden\" that polluted the environment has now been transformed into high-value industrial raw materials, injecting green momentum into the ecological environment protection and the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries in Gaoping City. Coal gangue is the main solid waste generated during coal mining and washing processes. Its long-term accumulation not only occupies a large amount of land resources but also contaminates the surrounding soil and water bodies. To address this ecological challenge and promote the comprehensive utilization of coal gangue, Gaoping City has accelerated the development of projects for manufacturing new building materials from coal gangue, thereby establishing a circular development model that incorporates waste disposal and the comprehensive use of resources. Upon arriving at the production site, large-scale manufacturing equipment is operating at high speed, with workers precisely controlling them from the control room to monitor the entire production process. Coal gangue is first carefully sorted using X-ray sorting equipment, and then it goes through a series of processes including crushing, screening, impurity removal, and sand production. After going through these various treatments, what was once an unremarkable material turns into high-quality industrial raw materials such as kaolin and manufactured sand, thus achieving a remarkable transformation from waste to treasure. Tian Wei, the project leader, explained: “Our production line features fully automated control, requiring no significant manual intervention throughout the process.” First, coal gangue is processed using X-ray intelligent sorting equipment to accurately separate the coal-based kaolinite-containing raw materials from other rocks. Subsequently, these materials are classified according to their quality and processed into construction materials for use, thereby achieving full utilization of coal gangue with no waste generation. ”At present, the project has put into operation a fully automated production line that integrates four processes: X-ray-guided selection of kaolin raw materials, X-ray-guided selection of rocks, coal-based sand production, and production of non-fired PC bricks. This system enables the annual processing of 1.4 million tons of coal gangue, 350,000 tons of kaolin, 950,000 tons of manufactured sand aggregates and raw materials, as well as 80 million non-fired construction bricks. With an annual handling capacity of 3 million tons, this production line is widely used in various fields such as ceramic manufacturing, building material processing, spacecraft coating, road base materials, and new inorganic materials, thereby achieving a harmonious integration of economic benefits, ecological benefits, and social benefits. Zhao Ming, the head of the company, said, “At present, the deeply processed coal gangue products we produce are mainly sold in the areas around Gaoping City, as well as in some other parts of the province, and in regions such as Shandong and Henan. The market response has been positive, with high levels of acceptance.” As the production lines come online in full capacity and manufacturing capacity is steadily increased, we will also continue to expand our sales channels, so that these green products created by turning waste into treasure can benefit more industries, thereby contributing to the high-quality development of the waste recycling industry in our city. ”
