The first GE coal-water slurry gasifier for the Shenhua Yulin CTC project was shipped / Author/Source: Yahua Coal Chemicals Date: 2019-03-26 Clicks: 13 On March 22, the GE coal-water slurry gasifier, which is the core equipment of the gasification unit for Shenhua Yulin Circular Economy Coal Comprehensive Utilization Project (Phase I), passed the acceptance tests and was shipped to the site. During the manufacturing process of the gasifier, Tianchen Company pays close attention to design and accelerated inspection, and regularly holds project coordination meetings to ensure that every measure and plan is implemented. To address challenges such as long delivery times for imported materials, high requirements for equipment welding, and difficulties in heat treatment, Tianchen Company provides technical support throughout the process as well as keeps track of the manufacturing steps. While ensuring product progress and strengthening quality control, Tianchen Company urged the factory to strictly follow the manufacturing procedures in order to successfully complete the production of the first gasifier for this project. The successful start of Tianchen Company’s Shenhua project laid a solid foundation for the overall advancement of subsequent work. The CTC project has chosen GE’s high-efficiency water-cooled coal slurry gasification technology, utilizing 5 gasifiers in a single series with a coal feeding rate of 3,100 tons per day on a dry basis; these are water-cooled gasifiers operating at a pressure level of 6.5 MPa. The first-phase project of the Shenhua Yulin Circular Economy Coal Comprehensive Utilization Project is a preliminary phase of this project (CTC Project). It also serves as a facility for producing methanol raw materials to support the already completed Shenhua Shaanxi Methanol Downstream Processing Project (SSMTO). The project is located in the northern area of the Qingshui Coal Chemical Industry Park within the Yushen Industrial Zone. Its construction includes facilities for producing 1.8 million tons of methanol per year along with 400,000 tons of ethylene glycol per year; these facilities comprise processes such as air separation, coal gasification, shift reaction, acidic gas removal, methanol synthesis, sulfur recovery, and ethylene glycol production, along with the associated utility systems and auxiliary facilities. Once completed, this facility will enable integrated production and management alongside the SSMTO project. The project plans to bring the unit online for operation in 2020.
