The 25th National \"Safety Production Month\" in 2026: Everyone talks about safety, and everyone knows how to handle emergencies; identifying and addressing risks and hazards. -------------------------------------------------- On July 4, the first filling of liquefied bio-methane (LBM) along the Yangtze River was successfully carried out at the Wuhan Yangtze River LNG receiving station. This ceremony was jointly hosted by Hefei Marriott Energy Equipment Co., Ltd., China Ship Fuel Co., Ltd., and Huaihe Energy Gas Group Co., Ltd. The liquefied biomethane (LBM) required for this refueling operation was produced and supplied by Marriott Energy. This project fills a gap in China’s inland waterway sector regarding commercial liquefied biomethane refueling services. Marriott Energy focuses on the conversion of upstream raw materials, the development of key equipment, and LBM production, thereby achieving full control over the entire supply chain ; Relying on Yangtze River-side infrastructure such as the Wuhu LNG receiving terminal, Huaihe Energy Gas Group is establishing a large-scale onshore storage and transportation hub to ensure the safe and stable refueling of LBM throughout the entire process ; Relying on its nationwide bunkering network, China Ship Fuel comprehensively covers all end-use scenarios for inland waterway vessels. As the key entity responsible for the development of LBM technology and the supply of fuel, Wanmao Energy has developed its own set of processes, which have been included in the **Low-Carbon Technology Catalogue. The company possesses comprehensive expertise in all aspects of high-temperature anaerobic fermentation and purification for liquefaction; it uses waste materials such as crop straws, agricultural and forestry residues, and organic livestock manure to produce compliant marine liquefied biomethane. It has obtained the world’s first dual certification from the EU ISCC standard, thereby providing a stable and reliable green supply foundation for this first refueling operation. This inaugural bunkering operation successfully established an integrated commercial operation chain comprising “conversion of agricultural and forestry waste into gas – land-based storage and transportation hubs – waterborne bunkering – and end-use by ships”. Leveraging Marriott Energy’s independently developed and controllable complete set of technologies for liquefied biomethane production, it has created a standardized, replicable, and scalable model for the implementation of low-carbon fuels in inland waterways. This initiative will provide strong impetus for scientific innovation in efforts to protect the Yangtze River, achieve carbon reduction targets within the water transport sector, and promote green, high-quality development along the Yangtze River Economic Belt, thereby enhancing ecological, industrial, and economic benefits simultaneously.
