Why is it necessary to disconnect the hydrogenation reactor for the reduction of the conversion catalyst? What is the principle?

The catalysts used in hydrogenation reactors are mostly cobalt-molybdenum catalysts. When the reaction temperature is reached and there is no sulfur present, the catalysts are reduced by hydrogen, losing their activity; meanwhile, to regenerate the catalysts, hydrogen reduction is required

Since hydrogen production typically involves a hydrogenation reactor at the initial stage, and this reactor is filled with cobalt-molybdenum catalysts, such catalysts lose their activity permanently when reduced in a high-hydrogen environment; therefore, it is necessary to remove the hydrogenation reactor when reducing the catalyst.
