I believe the bromine value cannot reflect the aromatic content of the oil. Firstly, by testing the bromine value of the oil, it can be determined that this oil is not a high-purity aromatic product. The bromine number indicates the content of unsaturated hydrocarbons in the oil (primarily olefins); in addition to unsaturated and aromatic hydrocarbons, oils also contain various saturated hydrocarbons (such as alkanes).
The bromine value reflects the content of olefins; a high bromine value indicates a high level of olefins, while a low value indicates a low level of olefins. Aromatic hydrocarbons are generally indicated by the aniline point; a high aniline point indicates a low content of aromatic hydrocarbons, while a low value indicates a high content.
