Hello, fellow colleagues: Today the company held a discussion on the expansion project for hydrogen production. I suggested that monitoring systems should be installed in areas such as the reaction vessels, LNG storage areas, and hydrogen production equipment. However, I couldn’t specify exactly which regulations require such installations. Some people mentioned that explosion-proof cameras are expensive, and since there are no regulatory requirements, it’s not necessary to install them. Does anyone among you have knowledge in this area? Thank you!
There is no specific standard that requires its installation, but with a camera in place, any issues can be addressed promptly once they arise. It’s just an additional means of monitoring.
It is recommended to refer to the requirements of GB50160 regarding fire alarm systems: 8.12.3, Clause 5: Important fire alarm stations should be equipped with a video surveillance system as well.
If it seems too expensive, you can use a cheaper one, but things will get difficult if something goes wrong.

There is also the need for real-time monitoring of key equipment such as furnaces, reactors, feed pumps, steam turbines, and other large-scale units, as the personnel on site carry out routine inspections rather than staying in one place.
There are no specified requirements for cameras, but combustible gas detectors definitely require them.
Units that produce, store, and use hazardous chemicals and that have hazardous chemical processes, hazardous chemicals, or major hazard sources listed in the **List of Processes Subject to Intensive Supervision and Management** shall install automated control systems, safety interlock devices, emergency shutdown systems, and video surveillance systems in accordance with the requirements of process safety
