Chongqing Dingdian Chemical Co., Ltd. plans to invest a total of 190 million yuan to build a new facility in the Shuijiang Industrial Zone of Nanchuan District, Chongqing, for the production of 15,000 tons per year of high-performance, environmentally friendly coatings. The project covers an area of approximately 46.85 mu, and will feature one Class A workshop and one Class C workshop, along with several warehouses of different types to meet production needs. In terms of the plant layout, Class A workshops will be equipped with production lines for high-solid-content coatings, resins, and colorants. The capacity will cover an annual production of 5,300 tons of high-solid-content coatings, including various subcategories such as elemental organic fluorine coatings, high-solid-content polyurethane coatings, and high-solid-content epoxy resin coatings. In addition, there will be an annual production of 400 tons of physically blended resins and 1,200 tons of colorants. Class C workshops will focus on the production of water-based coatings and powder coatings; it is planned to install production lines capable of manufacturing 3,000 tons per year of water-based industrial coatings, construction coatings, and fluorosilicone coatings, as well as 600 tons per year of adhesives made from water-based materials. Additionally, there will be production lines for manufacturing 4,500 tons per year of thermosetting powder coatings. All of these products feature low VOC levels, in line with **environmental protection policies, which further strengthens the company’s position in the field of eco-friendly coatings. Chongqing Dingdian Chemical Co., Ltd. was established in 2003 and is one of the early domestic companies dedicated to the independent research and development of fluorine coatings. Its FEVE and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) fluorocarbon coating products have seen widespread application in areas such as building facades, heavy-duty corrosion protection, and aluminum panel curtain walls. This project adds 3,600 tons of fluorocarbon coatings, which will enhance its competitive advantage in the field of functional fluorocarbon coatings. Thanks to their excellent weather resistance, heat resistance, low-temperature resistance, chemical resistance, as well as their unique non-stick and low-friction properties, fluorocarbon coatings are widely used in various fields, including construction, steel structure engineering, ships and vehicles, non-stick coatings for household appliances, and medical devices. Meanwhile, a series of relevant standards issued in recent years, such as the \"Technical Requirements for Anti-corrosion Coating of Steel Structures in Highway Bridges,\" the \"Technical Requirements for Anti-corrosion Coating of Main Cable Systems in Suspension Bridges,\" the \"Anti-corrosion Techniques for Surface Coatings on Concrete Bridge Structures,\" and the \"Technical Specifications for Corrosion Prevention of Steel Oil Storage Tanks,\" all recommend the use of fluorocarbon coatings as the primary protective system, thereby opening up policy pathways for the application of such coatings in fields such as transportation and energy. According to Shanghai Xinyang’s annual report, in 2023 the market size for fluorocarbon coatings in China reached nearly 5 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of almost 10%. Among them, although PVDF fluorocarbon coatings started development later, they have grown rapidly; they account for over 60% of applications in building facades, aluminum doors and windows, and are also expanding into emerging fields such as healthcare and electronics. In developed countries, PVDF fluorocarbon coatings are widely used in three main sectors: construction, chemical equipment, and electronics, with each sector accounting for 1/3 of the total usage. Compared with developed countries, there is still a certain gap in the application of fluorocarbon coatings in our country. The expansion of new application scenarios will become an important driver for future growth. Policy guidance, coupled with rising market demand, is driving the fluorocarbon coating industry into a period of growth. The global competitive landscape is clear, and local companies face challenges. Currently, the key manufacturers in the fluorocarbon coating market are mainly located in China and North America. AkzoNobel maintains a technological leadership in the field of aviation coatings, PPG Industries gains a competitive advantage through its presence in multiple sectors, while Covestro (formerly DuPont’s High Performance Materials division) has established itself as a industry leader in non-stick coating technologies thanks to the Teflon brand. The Chinese market features a competitive landscape with both international brands and local companies. International companies such as AkzoNobel, Covestro, and Daikin Fluorine Chemicals hold a competitive edge in high-end industrial sectors, while local brands manage to make headway by targeting niche markets. Jin Gaoli focuses on the research and development of coatings for aluminum profiles, while Kaopule specializes in applications in high-temperature environments. Companies such as Sanke Tree and Yashichuangneng are deeply involved in the field of building coatings; by leveraging production bases located in various regions including Guangdong and Jiangsu, they are able to optimize costs effectively and respond swiftly to regional market demands. This differentiated competition strategy has enabled local brands to increase their market share in the domestic market continuously. The upgrading of market demand has become the core driving force for the development of the industry. "Driven by the \"dual carbon\" goals, there has been a significant increase in the demand for high-performance exterior wall coatings in green buildings. Fluorocarbon coatings are widely used in curtain wall systems thanks to their excellent weather resistance and energy-saving properties. The new energy sector gives rise to additional demands; wind power equipment, new energy vehicles, and semiconductor production lines have increasing requirements for coatings that are resistant to corrosion and high temperatures, which drives the development of fluorocarbon coatings in more functional and customized forms. Technological breakthroughs and supply chain security have also become key factors restricting the high-quality development of the industry. In terms of technology, domestic enterprises need to overcome technical barriers such as fluororesin synthesis and the application of nanomaterials in order to establish an independent and controllable technological system. In terms of the supply chain, some key raw materials still need to be imported, which poses a potential risk to supply chain stability.
