On March 5, the Management Committee of Changshu Economic and Technological Development Zone issued a public announcement regarding its decision to approve the environmental impact assessment documents for Akroma (Changshu) Special Materials Co., Ltd.’s expansion project aimed at increasing production capacity by 6,000 tons per year of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). Project name: Akroma (Changshu) Special Materials Co., Ltd.’s expansion project to increase PVDF production capacity by 6,000 tons per year； Construction unit: Arkema (Changshu) Special Materials Co., Ltd ； Construction location: No. 18, Haining Road, Jiangsu Changshu New Materials Industrial Park ； Investment amount: $40 million (approximately 280 million RMB). Of this, 1.35 million RMB is allocated for environmental protection efforts, accounting for 0.48% of the total project investment ； Project nature: Expansion ； Construction contents: The project will add approximately 180 units of equipment such as polymerization reactors, emulsion storage tanks, and emulsion mixers, as well as build a PVDF reaction workshop. This will increase the production capacity of the existing polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) product by 6,000 tons per year, bringing the total PVDF production capacity to 25,000 tons per year after the expansion. At the same time, build and upgrade relevant public and auxiliary facilities. It exhibits excellent properties such as chemical resistance, high-temperature resistance, and oxidation resistance. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is primarily used in fields such as lithium batteries, coatings, injection molding, water treatment membranes, and solar panel backsheet membranes. Among them, high-end application areas such as lithium battery binders represent the main growth direction for PVDF in the future. Regarding Arkema (Changshu) Special Materials Co., Ltd.: Located at No. 18 Haining Road, Changshu New Materials Industrial Park, Jiangsu, Arkema (Changshu) Special Materials Co., Ltd. covers an area of approximately 417,353㎡. It is a foreign-funded company established through a joint venture between Arkema (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and Arkema Participation. Acoma Specialty Materials currently has an annual production capacity of 19,000 tons of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF).
