For fluoride removal, active alumina, chemicals, hydroxyapatite, and ion exchange resins are used. In cases where fluoride levels are high, calcium salts are employed to precipitate it (usually it is possible to reduce the fluoride level to 10–15 ppm; this depends to some extent on the salt content).
