Recently, the packaging unit of Sinochem Refining & Chemicals has fully implemented the use of UV laser printers. This is the first packaging unit in the system to use UV laser printers on a full scale; it is expected to reduce consumable costs by 2.2 million yuan per year, while also improving the quality of packaging for plastic products. Compared to traditional UV printers, UV laser printers offer advantages such as a small focused spot, minimal mechanical deformation of the material and reduced impact from processing heat. They also do not require consumables such as ink or solvents, have a low failure rate and a long service life, thus meeting the needs of downstream customers very well. In order to put the UV laser printer into use as soon as possible, the Second Chemical Processing Department of Sinopec conducted research, compared the equipment offered by domestic and international UV laser printer manufacturers, and selected the best model that could meet the production requirements for trial use. To address the issue of difficult QR code printing at high packaging speeds, they worked hard to optimize equipment selection and upgrade the software, achieving a production rate of 1,600 packages per hour. After trial testing, the UV laser printer operates smoothly; the batch number information and QR codes printed are clear and attractive, with a 100% accuracy rate in QR code scanning. It completely solves the problem of ink fading under low-temperature conditions. It is reported that in May this year, Sinopec Refining & Chemicals tested UV laser printers on one of the packaging lines in its packaging unit; these printers are now in use on all 10 packaging lines, providing successful experience for Sinopec to widely adopt UV laser printers for the packaging of plastic products.
