On April 16, videos of an explosion and fire appeared on various online platforms; based on the descriptions and locations given in those videos, it seems to have been a chemical plant in Zibo. At around 8 p.m. on April 16, 2026, reporters from Red Star News learned from the People’s Government of Linzi District in Zibo City that emergency, fire-fighting, and government agencies had rushed to the scene to handle the situation; the open flames had been extinguished, but the cause of the fire and the number of casualties still required further investigation. On the same day, the Emergency Management Bureau of Linzi District, Zibo City, Shandong Province, reported that at around 15:37 on April 16, a fire broke out at Zibo JiuSheng Chemical Co., Ltd. in Linzi District; the fire was extinguished by 17:27, and no casualties were reported. Fortunately, there were no injuries. Security management has a long way to go, and further efforts are still needed.
Indeed, we were about 10 kilometers away from the company where the incident occurred; Zheng’an is not in that area. However, black smoke rose into the sky from the fire, and the fire alarms kept sounding. Fortunately, no one was injured.
