Do you all think the oil skimming line at the bottom of the dry steam desulfurization tower for the product refining process is set too high? The oil skimming line is roughly at 90% of the bottom level gauge reading; in our case, we usually control the bottom level at only 60%. Is this oil skimming line set too high?
Personal opinion: Oil is lighter than the solvent and floats on top of it; therefore, the oil skimmer line must be above the liquid level.
But his oil skimming line is quite high; to skim the oil, I have to raise the liquid level to almost 90%!
Are you sure you didn’t see it wrong? Your glass plate level gauge has the AB oil skimming line outlet at the upper outlet of gauge B... Please take a good look and see if that’s the case
Apart from anything else, the design featuring an oil skimming line at the bottom of the tower is great.

It’s not high; the liquid level in the tower needs to be increased when oil separation is required.
More or less, ours is also around 85%!
