Since the clearance of the sliding bearing at the lower end of the molten salt pump is set based on the conditions under high temperatures, a larger clearance at lower water test temperatures should have some impact on the operation of the molten salt pump!
We use horizontal centrifugal pumps; we have never used vertical molten salt pumps, but we often test them with water, pumping it to a height of 100 meters!
It depends on what the purpose of your test is; there are two scenarios to consider: 1. If you want to test performance parameters such as the flow rate and head of the molten salt pump, water can be used for testing. 2. If you want to test the operation of the molten salt pump, using water for testing can only serve as a reference. Because the temperature differences of the medium are large, its density differences are also large. So the results can only be used as a reference.
